Most employers require a medical certificate if you're absent for more than 2-3 days, or if you've used all casual sick leave. The legal validity of online medical certificates in Australia is well-established. Some enterprise agreements and workplace policies have specific clauses about medical evidence. Common variations include: requiring a certificate after a single day of absence (stricter than the Fair Work minimum), specifying that certificates must come from a "registered medical practitioner" (which our doctors are), or requiring certificates to state specific information like fitness for particular duties.
